A vast city that has lost its original purpose, yet continues to grow along the remains of an ancient system. Water still flows, the infrastructure remains in operation, and people continue to live among structures no one fully understands.

巨型牆體、運輸核心、橋梁和水處理設施來自不同年代，新的房間附著在舊平台上，公共階梯繞過後來增建的牆，再接回更早的通道。各自不相容的編號系統同時留在結構表面，人們只使用其中與自己生活有關的部分這座城市並未完成，但也沒有停止的跡象，它沿著仍有水流、仍有人維護、仍能讓生活發生的地方，不斷向外增殖

Massive walls, transit cores, bridges, and water facilities belong to different eras. New rooms cling to old platforms, while public stairways bend around later additions before reconnecting with earlier passages. Several incompatible numbering systems remain visible across the structure, and people use only the fragments that matter to their daily lives. The city has never been completed, yet it shows no sign of stopping. It keeps spreading outward wherever water still flows, maintenance continues, and daily life can still take root.

巨大結構並沒有使日常變得遙遠孩子沿著公共階梯上學，居民在橋邊吃早餐，花店把植物搬到午後仍有陽光的平台。工坊藏在橋梁下方，市場沿著舊通道展開，住宅則附著在更古老的外壁在旁觀者眼中，這些地方可能只是基礎設施的縫隙，然而對居民而言，它們是每天會經過的街道、可以停下來說話的轉角，以及知道朋友會在什麼時間出現的地方

The vast structures do not make everyday life feel distant. Children climb public stairways on their way to school. Residents eat breakfast beside bridges, while florists move their plants onto platforms that still catch the afternoon sun. Workshops are tucked beneath spans, markets unfold along old corridors, and homes cling to walls far older than themselves. To an outsider, these places may look like gaps left between pieces of infrastructure. To the people who live here, they are familiar streets, corners where conversations begin, and places where one knows when a friend is likely to appear.

高層平台直接面向日光與乾燥的風，屋頂種植區、外側維修道與長距離空橋沿著巨構展開。站在邊緣時，可以短暫越過城市，看見盆地與遠方山勢，這裡的空間較開闊，對天氣的感受也更直接

往下幾層，風被建築擋住，住宅、學校、餐館與市場開始密集出現。橋梁成為街道，平台成為廣場。晾曬的衣物、開放的窗戶和來往的人群，把過大的結構切割成可以交談、工作與停留的尺度，這裡最接近日常所理解的城市

再繼續下降，天空只剩井道上方的一片亮面，空氣潮濕，水聲沿牆面與管線傳來。維護平台、儲水設施和運輸通道彼此交錯，燈光長時間映在薄霧裡。低處並不是被遺忘的底部，是另一個擁有自己光線、工作與作息的生活場域

The upper platforms are exposed to sunlight and dry winds. Rooftop gardens, exterior maintenance paths, and long skybridges extend across the megastructure. From the edge, the city briefly falls away, revealing the basin and distant mountains. Space feels more open here, and the weather is encountered without much mediation.

A few levels below, the buildings block the wind and the city becomes denser with homes, schools, restaurants, and markets. Bridges become streets, and platforms become squares. Laundry, open windows, and passing crowds divide the oversized structure into places where people can talk, work, and linger. This is the level that most closely resembles an ordinary city.

Further down, the sky narrows to a bright patch above the shafts. The air grows humid, and the sound of water travels through walls and pipes. Maintenance decks, reservoirs, and transport routes overlap in the mist, where artificial light lingers for most of the day. These lower levels are not a forgotten underside, but another inhabited world with its own light, labor, and rhythm.

The city depends on constant, meticulous care. Maintenance crews inspect bridge joints, clear waterways, replace aging pipes, and add new dates and arrows beside older markings. Some systems still operate as originally intended, while others have been altered by residents and woven into later additions. The line between inherited systems and present-day life has long since blurred. A maintenance corridor may also serve as a market entrance, while a water-level platform becomes a place to rest in the evening. Infrastructure does not merely support life. It is continuously rewritten by it.

這裡很難找到真正完成的建築，住宅借用舊牆作為背面，工坊沿橋梁支座向外伸展，餐館把遮棚固定在管線之間。新的房間懸在早期平台下方，平台上又接著溫室、樓梯與儲藏空間建築本身是回應當下的需求，有人住下，漏水會有機會被發現；有人工作，鬆動的接點便會被記錄。每一處附著在古老結構上的生活，也同時成為感知城市變化的一部分，建築在不斷增殖中活著

It is difficult to find a building here that feels truly finished. Homes borrow old walls as their backs, workshops extend from bridge supports, and restaurant canopies are fastened between pipelines. New rooms hang beneath earlier platforms, while greenhouses, stairways, and storage spaces continue to accumulate above them. Architecture responds to immediate needs. Once someone moves in, leaks are noticed. Once someone begins working, loose joints are recorded. Every life attached to the old structure becomes part of the city’s sensing network. The architecture remains alive by continuing to grow.

This is a city that never stops growing, and its residents become part of what sustains that growth. At dawn, maintenance crews patrol the outer platforms. By the time the markets begin to open, water technicians have already completed their first round of inspections. Workshops fill with machinery during the day, while schools and bookstores occupy quieter terraces. Some jobs follow the movement of sunlight; others are timed to water levels, lift schedules, or mechanical cycles. By evening, lights come on at different speeds across the city. Residents leave work along familiar routes, heading to restaurants, bars, or home. Each part of the city keeps its own hours of labor and rest. The routines of different professions cross through bridges, stairways, and lift shafts, forming the city’s daily breathing rhythm.

水面下仍保存著另一層城市欄杆、街道、教室與建築開口完整停留在清澈水中，像一片改用不同介質保存的日常場所。沒有人確定這些區域為何被淹沒，有人認為水位曾經上升，有人相信它們本來就屬於蓄水系統。不同年代留下的痕跡彼此矛盾，巨大城市中也充斥著各種傳說，但沒有任何說法足以解釋全部城市的過去沒有消失，它仍然可以被看見，只是不因此變得更容易理解

Another layer of the city remains preserved beneath the water. Railings, streets, classrooms, and building openings remain intact in the clear water, as though ordinary places had simply been preserved in another medium. No one knows for certain why these districts were submerged. Some believe the water level rose; others think the spaces were always part of a reservoir system. Traces from different eras contradict one another, and the vast city has generated countless stories, yet none explains everything. The city’s past has not vanished. It remains visible, though no easier to understand.

Water determines where settlements are able to form. Rainwater enters collection channels along the upper walls, passes through residential and market districts, then moves toward mid-level distribution stations, lower reservoirs, and agricultural facilities. Rooftop gardens rely on cleaner stored water, while markets and bathhouses gather along the most stable sources. Some waterways remain open, serving as transport routes and public spaces along the water. Residents plant, wash, collect water, and rest beside them. Agriculture is not separated from the city, but embedded among homes, workshops, and shared platforms.

Most days, nothing happens that seems worth recording. Someone prepares breakfast while another works beside a window. Residents return home along semi-open walkways, children pass through the market, and maintenance workers carry their tools toward the next platform. Lights come on at dusk, while water keeps moving through pipes hidden from view. There are no clear boundaries between rooms, streets, and workplaces. A window may open onto a vast structural canyon, while a dining table sits only a few steps from a public passage. To the people who live here, none of this is remarkable. It is simply everyday life.

這個看似凌亂、不斷增殖的有機城市，仍然是眾人生活的地方居民不需要知道每一道牆最初屬於什麼系統，也不必理解城市完整的歷史。他們會記得那間好吃的店在哪裡，知道哪一處平台下午有陽光，並在巨大管線開始震動以前，把桌邊的水杯稍微往內移一切並未因失去原始目的而停止運作，它被一代又一代的生活持續接上、修補與使用，並在沒有人能窺見全貌的情況下，繼續生長著

This organic city may appear chaotic and endlessly overgrown, yet it remains, above all, a place where people live. Residents do not need to know which system every wall once belonged to, nor do they need a complete history of the city. They remember where to find a good meal, which platform catches the afternoon sun, and when to move a glass away from the edge before the great pipelines begin to tremble. Nothing stopped functioning simply because its original purpose was forgotten. Generation after generation has connected, repaired, and reused what remains, allowing the city to keep growing even though no one can see it in its entirety.
